Version 20.0 – Expanded Support for Working with 3D Models

Reflecting the ever-increasing importance of 3D data in the field of GIS, many of the functional enhancements in Global Mapper version 20 relate to the software’s 3D functionality. 3D Models or meshes can now be transformed into a point cloud which can subsequently be processing using Global Mapper’s extensive LiDAR editing and filtering tools. A new free-flight mode provides a 3D gaming-like perspective in the 3D Viewer.

Additional new functionality includes several new options in the Map Layout tool, expanded support for finger gestures when using a touchscreen computer, dramatic speed and performance improvements, especially when working with large vector files, and a new eyedropper tool for precisely selecting a color during various raster operations.

Version 20 also sees the introduction of a streamlined licensing process which integrates the activation of the software with a customer’s online user account. This new interface simplifies the procedure for verifying an order number or even requesting a temporary trial license.
