New in Rhino 6

Grasshopper included, Quick renderings, New display engine,  Fast Make2D, Enhanced drafting… more
The Rhino 6 development process started with the overriding goal to remove as many of your workflow bottlenecks as possible, in addition to making thousands of large and small improvements. That meant making Rhino faster and able to handle much larger models and project teams.

Thanks to thousands of pre‑release users, we were able to field test and refine Rhino 6, making it the fastest and most stable version ever.

In Rhino 6 for Windows, we’ve fully embraced Grasshopper – the wildly popular visual programming language – by “baking it in.” Grasshopper is no longer beta; it’s a stable development environment. We’ve also rewritten some features and renovated workflows that needed fundamental overhauls to make them truly productive. These are the highlights…

The long beta period is over: Grasshopper, the world’s most beautiful programming language, is now a full-fledged part of Rhino. Used in some of the most ambitious design projects of the past decade, Grasshopper, like Rhino, has become a robust development platform. Grasshopper provides the solid foundation for many incredible third-party components ranging from environmental analysis to robotic control.

Presentation is key: during nearly every phase of design, you need to communicate, getting “buy-in” from clients, customers, collaborators, or the public at large. We’ve improved Rhino with the aim of helping you present your work: be it “quick and dirty” or “high-res glossy.” With major changes to Rendering, Materials, or just plain capturing the viewport, it’s now easier and faster to present, discuss, make decisions, and iterate.

Rhino’s new display pipeline is faster, more stable, and uses features found on modern graphics hardware, like GPU sensitive shaders and memory optimizations. This results in fewer GPU-specific display glitches and more consistent, beautiful, and frequent frames, even with large models. In some conditions, display speed can be up to 300% faster.

Modeling is just one part of the design process; you also need to show how to build what is on the screen. We’ve refined many parts of the documentation workflow, from a completely reworked annotation-style interface, to better DWG support, and RichText throughout. It’s now easier to convey accurately and clearly the what and the how of your design.

Make2D has been completely rewritten to provide faster, better, cleaner, more customizable results.

Rhino Refinements

Small quirks add up to painful paper cuts over the course of a prolonged modeling session. In Rhino 6, we’ve fixed hundreds of minor bugs and consolidated disparate – but similar – features into single commands, making Rhino much more refined.

Development Platform

Rhino is more than just a modeler. With a rich ecosystem of plugins and an open set of development tools, Rhino is quickly becoming the development platform for those seeking to push the envelope of design. Rhino 6 brings major improvements to our free SDKs, with API refinements, better documentation, and more access to Rhino commands from Grasshopper.

We’re constantly improving Rhino. Rhino 6 users have access to the Serengeti community and our Work-In-Progress (WIP) builds. The WIP builds are where we are developing future features like SubD support, Grasshopper 2, a new real-time rendering engine, and much more.

This is a multi-package portable. I can add updates/plugins via .svm files, just request plugins or notify me about new updates.

- Rhinoceros 6.x Portable.exe = main data file and program - language packs (~100 MB each) = download, move file as explained below, then enable them into Rhino settings. Available: Cs-cz, De, Es, Fr, It, Jp, Ko-kr, Pl, Ru, Zh-cn, Zh-tw. - *.svm = plugin packs to put next to main exe file (you can request) -> Now available: • Enscape • Clayoo 2.6 • Arena4D +Arena4D Renderer v2.0 • V-Ray 3.60.03 • V-Ray Next 4.10.01 • Orca3D v1.4 - works with Rhino 5.14 ONLY, there's no Orca for v6, don't ask.

Sandbox folder: "\Sandbox\Rhinoceros 6\roaming\modified\@[email protected]\Rhino 6\Plug-ins\..."

Multilanguage version! All available languages included in separate packages. You can add languages to both Portable and Setup versions. Enable it in settings.
(v6.17: Eng+Ita included in main pack) Portable: add .rhi files to \Sandbox\Rhinoceros 6\roaming\modified\@[email protected]\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\Packages\ Setup: add .rhi files to C:\ProgramData\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\Packages\

Portable features:

  • No installation required
  • No Admin rights needed
  • Pre-activated
  • 100% Offline, completely safe to use, no firewall needed
  • Sandbox folder containing modified settings, delete to reset
  • Just run it and enjoy!

Updates: If you already have previous versions of my Rhino portable, new exes for v6 will act as an update, as it reads the same Sandbox folder so your settings will be kept. Just place new exe next to old one and run it. Maybe also delete the old one :D - all plugins work with all rhino6 versions! You can update either Rhino or plugins separately, all work with all.

Thank you boss of portables. Can you make Vred profesional portable? And maya?

Mladen · 25 July 2018 at 12:11

Thank you very much, good sir!

alex-xela · 2 April 2019 at 6:21

Title re-called to have NEW RHINO 6.13 things, but I can’t find any of 6.13….
wasn’t there a mis-typing? or I had missed something? thanks!

The House of Portable · 2 April 2019 at 8:17

Sorry it’s coming in couple hours, I had troubles uploading 🙂

Walter · 3 April 2019 at 9:12

During the setup i have the following notice : “Error loading – Clayoo.rhp”.
What can I do? Thanks!

The House of Portable · 3 April 2019 at 9:16

Which setup? Try running rhino once without svm files, then close it and put svm files next to it and run again

    krazybika · 5 June 2019 at 8:16

    Facing the same problem.

    Yuan · 19 August 2019 at 16:54

Could you fix the clayoo plugin?
    Thank you very much!

The House of Portable · 20 August 2019 at 10:10

    will try

V · 1 May 2019 at 20:00

Thank you, for not only having the most up to date rhino, but also have enscape and vray included! <3

Vi · 4 May 2019 at 1:32

I have a question about installing plugs in with installers. I seen a new version of enscape and wanted to see if it works with the portable rhino. My question is that how would I go about getting it to run with the portable rhino? If answering the question would take too much of your time, then it is fine. Thank you.

The House of Portable · 4 May 2019 at 8:55

Yuo mean you found an Enscape newer than 2.3.2 and want to use it with my portable? Sorry it’s not easy, you should create a .svm file with all enscape files with turbo studio, but requires installation of it and a little bit of work, so should be done by me.. what version did you find?

Diweine · 4 May 2019 at 23:14

Hello, I can not download Rhino 6.11.18310.07201 from the links provided, can you help me?

sean · 6 June 2019 at 0:24

For some reason it wont open after downloading. I have downloaded part 1 and 2, and extracted both to the same folder. One comes through with 0kb size and doesnt show the Rhino logo and just wont open

Ale · 11 June 2019 at 18:10

I would appreciate if you upload SectionTools that is a useful tool for Rhino! Without that plug-in this program is ulesess! 🙂

S1M1 · 12 June 2019 at 17:31

Hello. Thank’s for your job.
I have a problem: I downloaded the main program, unzipped it and in the folder 3 files (2 .txt and 1 .exe) appear, but when I launch the program it doesn’t start … only your logo appears but then nothing more . Where is the problem? Thank you

mark13 · 19 June 2019 at 17:29

hi, I have a problem:
I have extracted “Rhinoceros 6.13 Portable.exe” in a folder but when I launch the program it doesn’t start. Any solution pls?

The House of Portable · 20 June 2019 at 11:50

are you on w10 v1903? it may have some problems i’ll update soon

    mark13 · 20 June 2019 at 14:53

    I am using Windows 10, version 1809.
Some portables work, some other don’t.
I have tried with admin privilege and update visual++
    Thank you.

The House of Portable · 21 June 2019 at 13:19

hey got any version of rhino already installed? Maybe your av is blocking it for whatever reason? should be perfect on 1809.
Also which other portable don’t work fr you? I know that in version 1903 some portables (like rhino I guess) won’t work anymore so if you can don’t update for now, I’ll fix all portables asap but I’m busy with university rn

    mark13 · 22 June 2019 at 16:35

I have 2 hdd with 2 different win 10 pro updated 1809 but with different OS build.
The first hdd OS 17763.504 ANY portable (yours and not) don’t work.
    On OS 10.0.10586 portables work.
Hope this is useful for anyone need help.
Thank you a lot for your work!

The House of Portable · 28 June 2019 at 18:10

the first os is from 2015, maybe time to update 😀 thanks!

    mark13 · 23 June 2019 at 11:23

    Hi, I found the solution:
installing last Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2019 from here:
    Any portables now work.
    Thank you.

The House of Portable · 28 June 2019 at 18:06

    wow thankss!

Gunawan · 23 June 2019 at 5:07

Good morning, i download and extract this file, but after i double click the software, just see the screen off the houseofportable logo and the software cant load

mark13 · 24 July 2019 at 14:17

Hi, I tried to follow your instructions but Clayoo is not recognized.
Is .svm like a .zip? Can I extract .rhp file from .svm?
I use WIN10 updated.
Thank you

The House of Portable · 4 August 2019 at 15:24

nope sorry, .svm is a container but you can’t extract files from it, they’re just read by the portable itself. You can open and edit .svm files using Turbo studio

Zeta · 2 October 2019 at 22:11

Hello, cant download v-ray from MexaShare, the link is to rhino6.13 instead of v-ray

David Johnston · 13 October 2019 at 5:22

First of all, Thank you very much. I discovered your portables some months ago ant they have become my foundation, instead of having to install with all the problems it brings.

Now I have a question. I was using your 6.13 portable, with VRay 3.6.03 and copied the Rhino exe file. It worked as planned, sweetly and kept all my tweaking. Thank you for that. I changed the Vray.svm with the VRay4.svm and it didn’t load. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you all over again!!!! Grat Job!!!

The House of Portable · 14 October 2019 at 0:11

Make sure you keep only one svm in the folder otherwise it will read both and make a mess. I guess v4 works in other folders so your settings wont be kept, but should work anyway in all rhino v6 versions

kim · 13 October 2019 at 8:23

Hi, thank you for upload thoese programs! but i’m get problems, i’m dawnloaded rhino vray 3.6, 4.0 and lunched to portable.exe but after that i’m try to install? or launch? but the program it doesn’t start. could you fix it or let me know the solution? i’ll be appricat about it!

The House of Portable · 14 October 2019 at 0:12

download rhino 6.17 (exe) and latest vray 4.0 (svm) files and put both in the same folder, launch the rhino exe, and it will read the svm

kim · 13 October 2019 at 16:03

sorry, this program is fake? i’m dawnload but is installed dreamtirp….
and also why are you delete my question?!

The House of Portable · 14 October 2019 at 0:17

this is legit, make sure you click text links and not some colorful ad

max · 24 October 2019 at 5:49

hi ican t open the file once it showed portable then nothing happen : (

The House of Portable · 24 October 2019 at 10:06

whihc version did you download? try getting 6.17 that should be fixed, also try putting exe on a usb stick and running it from there and tell em if it works then

    max · 24 October 2019 at 10:15

hello thx you for your help but still cant 🙁 i try other computer and it work fine, dont know why my new laptop not working (just bought lastweek)

The House of Portable · 24 October 2019 at 12:04

The House of Portable · 24 October 2019 at 12:05

what haha great, so you installed rhino also?

Tim · 27 October 2019 at 22:42

Is it possible to make a portable version of the RhinoGold, RhinoShoe & RhinoJewel plugins/packages? That would be amazing to have them handy…

MrThankful · 30 October 2019 at 15:33

Thank you so much! The best stuff all together!

yz02010 · 5 November 2019 at 11:47

itis really a good plugin for rhino!
thanks again!

BLAZE · 9 November 2019 at 15:28

Hey, Thanks for the upload.
I was trying to work with Enscape, but it’s asset manager won’t open up. A popup window shows up stating that asset manager requires a working internet connection. My internet connection is working fine, but Enscape asset manager won’t start. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks in advance!

The House of Portable · 10 November 2019 at 15:56

internet is blocked for the portable, needed becasue it’s not ‘normal version’ iykwim… would you use manager to add more stuff from internet, or internet is not really needed?
